Moments worth living!

The year is finally coming to an end. So each one of us has decided to post a little particular article talking about the awesome year we had in Colegio Santo Antonio. We just want to share our experiences and talk about the moments that are worth living in life.

Paula: This year, I didn't know exactly what to expect, because everybody used to tell me that the first year in high school was very dificult, and so I thought that I would have to study a lot, and wouldn't have time for important things, such as friendship, family and love...
But it turned out to be the exact opposite.
This year, I found great people to talk to... and as the time went by, I did amazing true friends,
one example of this is my partner Luiza, we discovered how similar we were, and now we decided to be best friends forever!
I never knew how much my family could support me in bad times, but this year I've finally discovered it. Everyone in the family shared love and since my brother came back from Germany (because he was living there last year) we all became very close, so close that it's hard to get apart in every single situation.
Those things, made me realize that life is not all about stuying and making yourself a good student, is much more than this, it's actually enjoying everyone that care about you, and making every little moment worth!

Luiza: I think this was the very best year of my life. Honestly. I had never thought that changing school, city and living alone would be so difficult but at the same time so amazing. I've learned a lot of things and made as many friends as possible. Even though I've studied like never before in my whole life, I had lots of fun. I met people like Paula, who helped me overcome my problems. I know our friendship is going to last forever. Studying at Colegio Santo Antonio made me realize how important friends and family are. It's not only grades and material things that you should care about. It's more than that. Because someday everything that you acquired may go away and you'll only have your feelings and the people that care about you.
Little moments such as times you spend laughing with your best friends, funny conversations with your family and that tiny little second when a friendship starts, those you should keep inside your heart, because these are the moments worth living in life.

A lesson of life

We saw a documentary directed by Michael Mayhew about the Holocaust. The film shows some of the survivors who only survived because of a certain man, named Schindler.

He was a successful man, who was only trying to make a lot of money at first, but somehow saved the lives of a lot of Jews taking them out of the labor camps to work in his factory.

In the documentary, some Jews who fortunally survived, tells how was life back in that horrible time of the World War II, and especially how did they get saved, with the lies Schindler use to tell to the Nazi Commandants, such as that the Jews were “essential workers” and so they should keep working in the factory.

One of the Jews in the documentary is Helen Hirsh. She was token really young to work for Göeth, a Nazi official, as a housekeeper. But since she was a Jew, she was very bad treating by him. It’s very interesting because in Helen's Interview, you can notice how though she is now, considering all she that she must have been trough.

A old couple of survivors, also share their story in the documentary. After the Holocaust they got together, and still together both of them give a huge value to the fact that they survived, they appreciate life!

All the Jews in the documentary tell how awful was the life for those who went from the dirty ghettos they were forced to live, to the concentration camps.

According to theses Jews, it was very hard to keep standing, when everyone around you was dying and getting weaker everyday.

For being able to help those people, Schindler is considered a good man, and a lot of people own their lives for him.

Love in the 3rd Age

Divorce has become something common nowadays. Statistics show that it has grown a lot in a very short period of time. But is not only the young couples that get apart. According to IBGE, in the last 6 years, the number of divorces between women and men above the age of 50 has grown 40%.

Since the life expectation got 35% higher than it was some years ago, and with the women’s financial independence, old people are starting to let go of the lull that the 3rd age brings. The technology of today is helping on this process.

According to Ibope, the use of the Internet for people above 50 in Brazil increased from 6% in 2000 to 13% in 2009. Relationship websites seem to be their favorite. Old people want to feel as free as young people are, in the matter of finding love.
Psychologists say that to old people, Internet is a good way to get to their personal knowledge but they also think that to be in a relationship is to stay close, to commit.
The website “Maisde50” has become famous between 3rd age people. According to the psychologist Ana Fraiman “the fear of staying alone is huge, but is worse being with the wrong person”, so in this website there are profiles to fill and the matches are more safe, making the users feel more secure.
It’s never too late to find love. People today are proving this in the most different ways. The Internet can be useful to everybody, at every age.

About relationships... and the girls?

Well, on the last post we talked about what guys do when it comes to relationships. In this one we'll see what girls do.

Beside the "eye thing" that we do, and the charming faces, us girls like to talk to our "love interest", always keeping a low voice, and laughing a bit anxiously.

It's natural for the girls to keep dreaming about the guy we like or about finding some kind of prince charming in real life. We are usually more romantic when it comes to relationships. And also shier.

Whatever, nowadays, some girls are actually taking the first step. They are the ones who aproach the boy and "make it happen". Some think it's groce. Some think it's really feminist. Well, it's a matter of opinion.

About relationships...

There's a big difference between man and woman about how to start a real relationship.
Most of the guys, when interested in some girl, create the brave to go there and talk to her... and the girl, when she sees someone she likes, she generally talk with her eyes, making charming faces and intimidated looks that "calls" the boy all the way over her.
But the problem is: There are some boys who think they are awesome, when in matter fact they aren't, and they aproach the girls in a awful way. They make tipical 'lines' and think that they are going to be successful.
Here are a list of lines, you have probably heard it once
•A guy sees a pretty girl and than goes right beside her and ask ''Hey, do you have any band-aid?"

The girl, might probably say "No, why?''

And he answers: "because I bruised my knees falling for you."

•The guy comes to the girl and say :" Excuse me, I forgot my number... Can I have yours?"

• "Do you have a map" the guys asks "is just that I keep getting lost in your eyes''

So.. There you go, a list of the worst ways to get a girl! If you are a girl and you are reading this, you have probably suffered with the "Sickness of bad lines" but if you are a boy.... please, grow up and start to come up with good subjects, I'm sure that is going to make much more effect than the lines!
